Not bad, but quite narrow - a Slay the Spire affair where it has a very solid core gameplay loop and the bulk of 'content' is in replay value. I have become so accustomed to game price inflation that when I saw that Griftlands was £12, I assumed it would be barebones. It's hard to structure my thoughts on this one but Griftlands really blew me away and I'm not seeing a whole lot of hype for it here, so here's a quick ramble: /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban. Now go, get hooked on being drunk and threateningly throwing bottles at an opponent with an XXL-size rifle. No reason not to try it, considering that demo is available and wildly enticing. Stylish, challenging and addictive, it’s worth every penny. “Griftlands” is a wonderful example of well-thought-out, well-executed card battler that clearly had lots of love and effort put into making it. Stylish synth tracks that incorporate everything from slow, drawn-out riffs to some funky, retro tunes not just compliment the journey and the battles but also truly stand out as an example of high-quality soundscape. Phenomenal soundtrack that’s, surprisingly, isn’t being sold separately. Tons of details, unique character design (from main heroes to animals to monster bosses) and well-animated battles make it a true eye-candy. ěeautiful 2D universe in soft, almost pastel-like shades paradoxically manages to be colorful and vibrant at the same time. Mastering all the game has to offer allows you to be engrossed for hours on end. Main storyline battles and negotiations are challenging enough to be interesting, but it’s the brawl and varying prestige levels (unlocked after the main game) where true challenge is. Tons of cards to get familiar with require real strategic thinking to put something good together. Not only does it have two main components – a possibility to negotiate and a possibility to fight (two separate decks), but each of the characters also has their own twist on both of those and special quirks unique to them only. Many factions and groups and other cells of society make this adventure chock-full of interesting encounters and an ability to make alliances (or break them AND kill everyone involved) as one sees fit. Well-developed, complex personalities exist in an intricately built world with fascinating lore behind it. Three separate stories from three entirely different characters surviving and fighting in the same universe. There’s some seriously good narration here. Developed story, involved and varied mechanics, gorgeous 2D visuals, stellar soundtrack… Essentially, a fantastic game all around.
